The Currency of Canada is the Canadian Dollar, it was first introduced in 1858 and has become one of the most traded currencies in the world. The Canadian Dollar is signified by the $ symbol and sometimes C$ or CAD$ in order to differentiate it from the US dollar to US tourists.
Many places in tourist areas also accept the US dollar in order to accomodate the visitors from the US, although it is wise to change money into Canadian Dollars in order to obtain the best exchange rate rather than going with the shops US dollar rate.
