One of Canada’s spectacular national parks, the oldest in the country, Banff is a land of mountains, lakes, ice fields, glaciers, forests and meadows. The Banff is one of the globe’s most visited national parks. All year long, the park is open and offers many outdoor activities and attractions.
One of the most famous spots in the park is Lake Louise. Surrounded by the famous, majestic peaks, the lake is a national landmark. Two resorts at the lake village are Lake Louise Mountain Resort and Chateau Lake Louise. The Icefields Parkway begins at Lake Louise and follows northward to end at the town of Jasper in Jasper National Park. Banff has numerous ice fields and glaciers that visitors can visit as they tour northward on the Icefields Parkway.
Wildlife is everywhere in Banff National Park. The best time to view a wide variety of animals is at dawn near the banks of one of the lakes when animals and birds are getting their morning drinks. The wild scene is amazing, the caribou, moose, and deer with a backdrop of the morning sunshine over the mountain peaks reflected in the quiet pool.
Activities at the park include skiing, fishing, hiking, camping and much more. The park has a golf course featuring 27 holes. A fabulous winter excursion could be a dog sled trip. Snowshoeing with a camera is another option. In the summertime, besides playing a round of golf in one of the most beautiful places in the world, visitors can try water rafting, boating and relaxing in the hot springs. The town has lovely art galleries, gift shops and dining.
